If APC wins this election, I will go into exile - Bode George
PDP Chieftain, Bode George says he will go into exile if Bola
Tinubu's party, the APC, find its way into national government.
According to Bode George, if Bola Tinubu gets into power, he
would instruct his "boy", the APC Vice Presidential Candidate, Prof Yemi
Osinbajo, to immediately pick him up. Bode George said this in an
interview with Eniola Akinkuotu of Punch
"If Bola Tinubu finds his way into national government, I will go on exile. He hasn’t the temerity and the calmness of mind. They don’t even know what to do in power. Because the vice-president is his boy, he will just order that Bode George should be picked up. He said soldiers came to him but he must have been dreaming. When he said soldiers had surrounded his house, I drove down there because my house is not too far from there. I know the hierarchy of the military and its behaviour. That they surrounded his house is lie number one because on either side of his house are two buildings. There is also one at the back. So, I wondered where the soldiers were hiding. Why would you lie for public consumption? So when I got down there, I knew that his spin doctors were working. These days people go on the social media and the story went viral. Why would he (President Godluck Jonathan) from Abuja, be running after Bola? Let them be very careful about the statements they are making. More so, if Obasanjo is now linking Jonathan with what happened in Cote d’Ivoire and coup; not in this 21st Century. That is past and gone forever. No nation goes through this kind of tribulation twice and survive. We have had our own experience of Civil War and I pray that God does not direct our minds in that direction and our people have to watch their mouths".

OBJ slams GEJ again, says he is afraid Buhari might jail him when he leaves office
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday came hard again on
President Jonathan and his style of governance, claiming that President
Jonathan is afraid that if Gen Buhari wins the election, he might jail
him when he leaves office. Obasanjo said this while speaking to newsmen
at his home in Abeokuta shortly after his return from his trip to Kenya
and UK.
Obasanjo said President Jonathan was doing everything possible to win the elections, either by hook or by crook. He said president Jonathan is playing the cards of former Cote d’Ivoire President, Laurent Gbagbo who continued shifting elections in his country in a bid to ensure that he won the election, a situation that plunged Cote d'Ivoire into political crisis. He said President Jonathan was reigning and not ruling after he said in his last media chat he was not aware of the military's advise that the election be postponed. He said INEC deciding to postpone the election was a forced decision. Read all that after the cut...

Full INEC Chairman's Statement on 2015 Election Schedule
Ladies and Gentlemen, We invited you here today to make known the position of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the timetable for the 2015 general elections. Let me state from the outset that the Commission’s position was reached after carefully weighing the suggestions from briefings held with different stakeholders in the electoral process.
The conduct of elections in a country
like Nigeria is invariably a collective venture that involves not just the
Election Management Body (EMB), but also a diverse range of stakeholders,
notably security agencies, political parties and their candidates, voters, as
well as interest groups, such as the civil society organizations and the media. To
guarantee successful conduct of elections, there are things that are wholly the
responsibility of the EMB. But there are other things critical for the success
of elections, which fall outside the control of the EMB.
In other words, while INEC must work
hard to perfect its systems and processes for conducting elections, and take
responsibility for any imperfections thereof, whatever the Commission does may
not by itselfbe sufficient to guarantee the success of elections. There are a
number of issues in the preparation and conduct of an election, the most
critical of which is security, which is not under the control of INEC.

Former Governor Nyako blasts EFCC for declaring him wanted
Earlier today, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,
released a statement saying former Adawama state governor, Murtala Nyako
is wanted for stealing, abuse of office and money laundering. (see here). Mr. Nyako has reacted, blasting EFCC and saying declaring him wanted is the 'last kicks of a dying horse".
Mr. Nyako spoke to Premium Times through his media assistant, Ahmed Sajoh
According to him, the Jonathan government is afraid that even when he (Nyako) was no longer in office, the people of Adamawa State still love and support him.
Mr. Nyako spoke to Premium Times through his media assistant, Ahmed Sajoh
"I am not aware of being declared wanted. But that is good. If you are wanted by a rouge system, it means you are a good person. Has this government gone after anybody that is bad? They only run after the good people and allow the bad people to roam around them, live happily and enjoy whatever bad things they are doing.”The former governor also blasted the government saying he is not surprised that EFCC declared him wanted and said that many more Nigerians will be declared wanted by the government because they are intimidated by the large crowd that turned out for the APC, rally in Yola, Adamawa.
According to him, the Jonathan government is afraid that even when he (Nyako) was no longer in office, the people of Adamawa State still love and support him.
“When the time comes for them to be declared wanted nobody will sympathise with them,” he concluded.Source: Premium Times

Who would you trust on Feb. 14? Nigerians face a stark choice

Trust is a fragile thing. As a citizen of a nation, our trust in
government allows us to feel safe; to go about our daily lives without
the fear. Yet in Nigeria, insecurity is at an all-time high. This is a
country in which 294 days ago, over 200 girls were ripped from the lives
as they knew it and were left without recourse.
This is a nation where the epicenter of industry and commerce in its
region, Maiduguri, is facing repeated, audacious attacks by a terrorist
group insurgency.
Nigerians have the power to change that; to take the first step in protecting themselves. It is a permanent voter card, and it can be used to change the government and change the country's abysmal status quo. As Nigeria moves into the final days leading up to the election, this video release asks the question: who would Nigerians trust?

A man who has created our abysmal present situation, or a man who has
proven security credential when dealing with terrorist incursion.
Nigerians have a choice. Who should they trust?
