15 Artistes We Are Looking Out For in 2015!

This list of 15 Nigerian artistes to look out for in 2015 is not intended to be exhaustive- these are simply 15 people who we believe should have interesting outings in 2015. They’ve set the foundation on which they can use as a springboard to a commercially and critically successful 2015, and most of what they need to do is pray, plan properly, put in hard work and hope for the very best…
Now, here goes (in no particular order):
  • Temi Dollface
Temi
Temi
Temi Dollface isn’t a regular/conventional artiste- her music is as expressive in different sounds as it is artful. She came up with the ingenuity that was Pata Pata and very recently, Just Like That. Even her feature on Ndani TV’s The Juice was enough to prove, that she is truly, very different and can create a niche none can copy. So in 2015, we’d love to see where she goes with her career.
  • Yung L
Yung L
Listen to songs like  S.O.S, Tempted, Stinking Sh*t and you’ll understand why Yung L is definitely worth paying attention to. His style of rap is addictive and hopefully, in 2015, we hope he gets the attention that he so deserves. Check out his Soundcloud for more great music.

  • Cobhams Asuquo
Cobhams Asuquo
It is almost impossible to list the most respected individuals in the music industry, without including Cobhmas’s name. Not only has he produced some of the best Nigerian songs in the past decade, he also has an amazing voice. If you haven’t been won over by his production skills, one question- have you listened to Ordinary People and Star of Wonder? We’d really appreciate a full body of work in 2015 and if we get it, we are so sure it’ll be an amazing treat.

  • Stormrex
StormRex
Phyno has recorded colossal success in the music industry and has played a major role in the way ‘Igbo’ rappers and artistes are being received and his protege, Stormrex is worth watching out for, in 2015- possibly, the next big thing in the east. Her songs, Blessing and Nwa Nee, which features Phyno, has got our attention and has managed to keep us interested in what she will offer 2015. Now, the ball is in her court see more after the cut....

  • Lil Kesh
Lil Kesh
Young, but very promising! Lil Kesh is one of Olamide‘s proteges and he is learning well and fast. His song Shoki was well received, and he even got to perform it at the Channel O Music Video Awards. He continued to show how good he is in his most recent freestyle, I No Well. Could he be the next King of the streets? Let’s see what 2015 holds for him.

  • Niniola
Niniola
DJ Xclusive tweeted not too long ago; “I think Niniola had the best female party song this year “IBADI” but I feel it wasn’t pushed well. That song is truly something #My2Cents.” Boy, is he right. Her two songs, Ibadi and Gbowode are truly something but in 2015, it would be awesome to see her release more awesome music. Meanwhile, we really love the video for Ibadi.

  •  Mavins ( Di’ja, Reekado Banks & Korede Bello.)
New Music Video!! ‘Adaobi’ by The Mavins- Don Jazzy, Reekado Banks, Di’ja & Korede Bello
While The Mavins consists of  7 members, we’d like to focus on Di’ja, Reekado Banks and Korede Bello- Whether collectively or individually, they’ve proven their ability to create hit songs like Dorobucci, Adaobi, Awww, Cold Outside, but we believe there’s a lot more they can offer in 2015. They can’t afford to rest on the success they’ve recorded so far and in 2015, with the help of super producer, Don Jazzy, they can really prove to us, why they are called The Mavins.
Side bar: Reekado Banks won the Rookie of the Year category at the Headies 2014, a category decided upon by the fans– this indicates, that the fans are excited about his work. He shouldn’t let them down.

  • Poe
POE
Poe is a super talented member of the new school rap team. Koyewon and Slow it Down grant credence to that statement. In 2015, we believe that with the right level of push, he should solidify his place as one of the exceptionally skilled rappers in Nigeria!

  • Banky W
Banky W
Banky is on this list not so much for his music but his newly acquired directing ability- he recently finished from the New York Film Academy where he learnt film-making for 3 months but the question is- will he start to direct music videos for his colleagues in the music industry and how good will his conceptualization and interpretation be? Well, let’s see how this goes in 2015…

  • Eva Alordiah
Audio & Video!! Eva Alordiah Covers Ice Prince’s Shots on Shots
Eva is fire!! This year, she spat fire on records such as Deaf & Dumb, War Coming, her EP and that super sexy and awesome video for S.H.U.G.A. She plans to release her album in January, 2015 and we cannot wait. Truly. Eva is one of the best Femcees and we’d love to see how she dominates 2015 with amazing music and super sexy videos…

  • Wande Coal
Wande Coal
Black Diamond, Wande Coal, needs to give us another album. No pressure, but it is about time! Why whet our appetite with party banger, Baby Hello and sweet, blissful song, Plan B, then hold out on us? No fair!! So we call dibs on more great songs in 2015 and possibly, another great album… Yes, we miss Wande like that!

  • ShayDee
ShayDee
ShayDee‘s voice is of the finest quality and in 2015, we’d love more of it. O Poju, his verse on Murda recent party banger, Chakam and the recently released Christmas song, Merry Christmas are well worth it. We certainly don’t doubt his talent, but in 2015 we’d love to hear more and see more Shaydee.

  • Femi Naija
B'aye Molla
Baye Molla just snuck up on us and registered Femi Naija as a bad a** singer- this dude can sing!! In 2015, he needs to work those vocals some more, bring us even better songs and officially claim his spot as one of the best male vocalists in Nigeria.

  • Simi
Simi
Simi is another young female artiste whose voice is made of quality stuff and if you haven’t heard any of her work, go listen to  ‘Tiff’ and her EP, Restless right now! Behold that sonorous voice.  Simi might be petite, but that voice is as mighty as the force that can fell a tree…

  • Issac Geralds
Issac Geralds
Issac Geralds is another talented and creative young artiste. ‘Fall in Love’ is really good and ‘Ijebu Girl’ is a creatively crafted song. His song arrangements aren’t lazy and he deserves much more in 2015-he just needs to record more and give us more eargasmic songs.

BONUS ARTISTE:
  • Jeremiah Gyang
Jeremiah_Gyang_Dan_Gata_Art
Okay, we just had to add one more and name him the bonus artiste only because we didn’t want to jinx the ’15′ and ’2015′ correlation and his name is Jeremiah Gyang. Beautiful voice as is evident on Dan Gata and Stay with Me. He was away from the music industry for a while, but this year he released new music and convinced us that he’s still got it. Hopefully, he continues on this tangent and releases more sweet, soulful songs in 2015.
